5 years of iPhone

Apple's smartphone celebrates five years of existence. With over 100 million devices sold since the launch in 2007, the iPhone has become the most popular smartphone in the world.

When the iPhone was launched, one of it's most attractive characteristcs was the multi-touch screen that took up almost the entire front of the model and received commands directly from the fingers without need of a touch-screen pen.

Another one of iPhone's remarkable characteristic is the idealization of its design, which has been followed as a base for all smartphones. Apple keeps pretty much the same design used in every generation of their smartphone, changing only a few details.

Apple also revolutionized the smartphone's industry with the creation of applications. The company started to realize that iPhone's users were beginning to see their product not only as a phone, but also as an iPod or even as a hand-held computer. Thus, in 2008, the company launched the App Store applications, integrated into the iTunes music store.

In 2011 Apple revolutionized once again the smartphone's industry launching the iPhone 4S. Among new applications and tools, the most impressioning innovation was the launch of a voice recognition system, the Siri. This tool is not only able to answer objective questions like "what are the best restaurants in town?", or direct commands such as "call this person." It also has the ability to interact with the user with personal messages such as "I love you".

What is the next innovation that Apple will launch for iPhone? This is the question that not only technology enthusiasts have but also the millions of Apple's fans around the world: People who wait in lines to buy an Apple product on the very first day of launch. Fanaticism makes the iPhone one of the most desired products on Earth.
